Last June I visited Niagara Falls. Thousands of tourists. The majority of them had P&S cameras, video, and disposables. Very few SLR's in sight. Didn't notice any still digital cameras.
A few days ago, I took my family into New York City to see the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center. Again, thousands of tourists were taking photos. I was very surprised to see hundreds of people using digital still cameras! The most popular model was the Sony. (Santa was generous, but skipped me!) This was quite a change in six months. I'm not offering any theories or sermons. I just wasn't aware that digital still cameras were so popular with snapshot shooters. Guess I have to get out more.
