Hi guys;

Its been a while since I've been hooked up with SPORRS and its great to
be back.

First, I have to give Dave a large round of applause for the outstanding
job he did at giving SPOORS a new look.

I don't know if this is new news to all of you, but I heard last month
from a good source that Kodak Dallas is closing.

In fact according to Ed Grizer at Kodak Rochester it is true. The Dallas
lab will close entirely (Kodachrome and print processing) some time this
summer.

All the work will be disbursed among the other Kodak/Learner/Qualex
labs.

Some other interesting notes; There are 2 new Kodachrome mini-labs in
service now. One is at San Leandro outside of San Francisco and the
other is in Tukwila near Seattle, WA. Right now these might be the only
labs of this type to be put into service.

Also, Kodak was to have a marketing push on the Kodachrome line to see
if they could generate more business. Unfortunetly it was shelved at the
last minute late in '97. That probably goes along with Kodak laying off
or terminating about 16,000 employees in the last year. Maybe its due to
Fuji opening up a film plant in the Carolinas. Is the white flag of
defeat is about to wave?

Its a slow death, but I'll still shoot their stuff until the last roll
of Kodachrome can be bought and exposed.

That is all for now,

Terry Chicwak
