For those who can't make Winterail but would like to mix with some of the SPORRS folks in person, may I also suggest considering the annual Alta-Mont Railfan Weekend in October at the Izaak Walton Inn, Essex, Montana.
A good many SPORRS subscribers are Essex regulars, so I won't go in to details. Let's just say that Alta-Mont is not the slide show/swap meet that Winterail is, but it's a great weekend of hard-core photography, slide shooting, consumption of adult beverages, etc. Everyone who attends always wants to come back. And it's small enough that you don't need name tags! The 1998 edition of Alta-Mont is October 9-10-11-12.
