I used to have an Elan II as my primary camera and was quite satisfied with it. I found it to be quite reliable. The metering system works rather well in most situations, you could safely shoot in the program mode and achieve consistently good results. I have an A2e and the eye-controlled focus in the Elan IIe is the same. While the eye-control focus does work well I seldom find a need to use it.
