For those planning to go to Eastern Canada, there are lots of MLW's
still running out here. While the Cape Breton & Central Nova Scotia
is now all EMD, the Windsor & Hantsport still runs 4 RS23s on their
gypsum trains, and usually pairs on the other jobs. M420Ws are still
fairly common on the CN east of Montreal, but are rapidly diminishing
due to retirements and sales to shortlines. Many of the new
shortlines east of Montreal have all MLW rosters, the Quebec
Gatineau, The Gennese Rail One between Montreal and Quebec City, The
former CN Gaspe lines, The former CN from Moncton etc.
On the Toronto to Montreal mainlines, CP still hosts many MLWs, with
usually one or two solid sets daily, while on CN a solid set or
leader is now rare.
Good luck and good shooting. Anyone interested in shooting east of
Toronto, drop me a line, always looking for more ALCOhaul...
