Hey Everybody, I've experienced both sides of the coin with respect to zoom lens sharpness. I've owned several Nikon zooms, and only one, a 80-200 f4 was acceptable as far as sharpness went, and a 35-105 F3.5-4.5 was sharp only at 35mm, and then only if a smaller f stop was used. I now own one Nikon Zoom, the latest 80-200 f2.8 with dual focus and zoom rings. This lens has ED Glass and is incredibly sharp throughout it's entire range and at every focal length. I'll put it up against any fixed focal length lens within it's range. Just my two cents' worth.
