Greetings,
Traffic on the Sedalia Sub was a little slow all morning (per
Kirkwood Railfans -noon update). I pointed the car west and after
picking up fishing gear for my son I was in Hermann by 0200 pm. After
setting him up for some fishing I climbed the big hill east of town, set
up my tripod and camera, open up a Diet Coke, sat back in my folding
chair and watched the river flow by. Ten minutes went by before I got
my first pair of trains, one east bound and one west bound. It seems
that the UP dispatcher tries to stage an overlapping meet at the main
grade crossing in town so they're usually pairs of trains. Sunset
(0730) I had shot about six westbound and five east bound trains (two
being Amtraks). Good light all afternoon which turn to excellent late
in the day. The best was general frieght with a clean UP 153(?) ex-MP
B23-7 something or other on the point (my finger are crossed).
The cantilever signal bridge is now gone (bad news), but they also
pulled some wiring down that powered the signal which open the shot up
(good news).
I shot Fuji 100 Provia, NIKON 8008S, and some 200 and 400mm lens, no
filters.
If they turn out anything like I saw in the view finder I'll have Dave
add one or two to the SPORRS page.
