In a message dated 98-04-29 07:49:04 EDT, you write: << Good Morning: This discussion about teleconverters came at a good time for me. I would like to get a 2x for my Pentax 6x7. Any of you guys have any experience with these? I don't know anyone personally that has one. Thanks in advance guys. >> I have had a Pentax old style T6 2X converter for 12-15 years. I used to use it quite a lot but no so much since I got a 500 mm lens. It has very good optics as do the rest of the 6x7 lenses. You are not supposed to use it with a normal 90mm or 105 mm lens. I have used it with both the 200 mm f4, and 300mm f4 lense with very good results. Pentax does not recommend the T6 with the 500 mm f5.6 but I have used it with the 500. The problem is some vignetting (sp) that can be cropped out in the darkroom. But one 500mm plus 2x converter was good enough to be published in PRN. If you are going to shoot action you need pretty fast film with f8 as your effective fastest aperature.
