Hey Everybody,

I've had virtually the same experiences as John described as far as slide
submisions go. My worst experience was the 1998 KCS Calendar. The printer
took my slide and disassembled it, scratched it and placed a huge fingerprint
on both sides of the slide. Although I was grateful that they used my image
in the calendar, I was disappointed in the way that the slide was handled.
Fortunately, I had taken several slides of the same subject at the same time,
so I still have some undamaged images of the same scene. I've never submitted
anything to Kalmbach that came back damaged, so I guess I'm lucky, but they've
never published any of my work either. As for slide printing and scanning, I
have to agree with John. Holland Photo in Austin has never damaged any of my
transparencies, including some 120 Kodachromes that were murder to handle and
print. I've also had splendid results with The Slideprinter in Denver, CO.
They've printed no less than 50 slides for me and have never damaged a slide.
Likewise with CTC Board. My most recent shot in the Day in North America
feature came back totally free of damage. I really get nervous when I send
slides to a printer for the first time. I usually feel like I'm gambling with
the slide. I guess that's the price you pay for success.

Best Regards,

Danny Johnson
