AFL Sports based PhD Scholarship

St Kilda Football Club (STKFC) and the School of Sport & Exercise
Science, Victoria University (VU) have formed a Sport Science and High
Performance Alignment. Together, they are seeking outstanding candidates
with backgrounds in sports science, mathematical analytics and computing
to apply for a tax-free Postgraduate Scholarship of $30,000 per annum
for 3 years to commence immediately (31 March 2011).

The successful candidate will become an integral member of the football
and conditioning departments. Based primarily full-time at the new Linen
House Training Centre, this industry based candidature will have a core
research focus based around maximizing the use of GPS technology to
determine physical load and assist recovery management. However, it is
also expected that this exciting opportunity will also allow the
candidate to branch into other research areas related to team sport
performance. Candidates from diverse disciplines are encouraged to
apply, as the core GPS component may require strong mathematical
analytics, computation and programming.

Applicants will be required to fully address the selection criteria, and
be prepared to give an oral presentation of their honours thesis (or
recent work as principal researcher), in conjunction with a brief
research proposal. Applications are for Australian citizens only.

Closing date: 1pm Thursday 24th March 2011 - please obtain documentation
and selection criteria from the undersigned or the following link
