Zealand Rugby League: PhD Scholarship

strong applicant, with a passion for sport science and high performance
sports management, and a desire to carry out applied research in rugby
league.

The PhD scholar will be part of the high performance team with New Zealand
Rugby League, supporting the high performance staff in gaining a full
understanding of the current international best practices pertaining to
National Team player management within professional sporting franchises, the
effective integration of sport science and medicine support when working
with professional rugby league franchise staff, optimizing knowledge
transfer and performance and exploring the best approach involving
inter-professional collaboration towards optimizing preparation and
performance for world cup (championship) events.

Research topics will be finalized based on the specific interest area(s) of
the scholarship holder in agreement with the supervisors, and in accordance
with AUT regulations and those of New Zealand Rugby League.

The research will be supervised by Dr Tom Patrick. The scholarship includes
a stipend of NZ $25,000 tax free per year for three years. International

with the supervisors once the PhD candidate is confirmed for this
scholarship). Contestable grants will be available for travel and research
projects.

player management and effective integration and utilization of sport
science.  Familiarity with a high performance sport environment, and/or
