Dear Colleagues,
A friend of mine, ex Leeds Tykes, Queensland Reds and Barbarians player, Matt Holt (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_union/english/4493627.stm) and I are in the process of setting up a new rugby website which amongst other things will incorporate articles on all aspects of sports science within both codes (e.g. biomechanics of scrummaging/kicking, physiological demands, nutrition and supplementation, mental strength, principles of coaching, history of the game, 7's, Tag, Women's Rugby, Wheelchair Rugby etc.) To demonstrate how serious we are, our main ambassador is former British Lions and 2003 RWC winner Ben Kay, and we have just secured interviews with current England head coach Stuart Lancaster, legendary commentator Ian Robertson, former England and British Lions hooker Andy Titterrell and Australian Rugby League legend Matt Geyer. We are looking for expressions of interest in terms of providing some written features for our website. Unfortunately, we can't pay any expenses at this stage but this might change in the future. We are forecasting some significant interest and therefore we will provide an ideal platform for those who would like to get their rugby specific research to a wider community. We would also consider if any institutions with sports journalism expertise might like to run a competition for their students (cash prize for winner). The website is due to go-live in the next few weeks and whilst content will be an ongoing aspect of the development we would be grateful if could get in touch as soon as convenient. Kind regards Matt Matthew Higgins - BBA (Hons), BSc (Hons) Coventry University Email:[email protected]
