Applications are invited from highly-motivated Australian and international 
students for full-time study towards a PhD degree in the general area of sport 
and performance (including physiology, genes and performance, biomechanics, 
biochemistry and molecular biology, skill acquisition and psychology). Key 
Research Areas include: talent identification, genes and performance, team 
sports, training and muscle adaptations, altitude, sports nutrition, and 
recovery.
Research scholarships for Australian and New Zealand Citizens
We offer the following scholarships for Australian and New Zealand Citizens:

  1.  Vice Chancellor's Scholarships (incorporating Australian Postgraduate 
Award) -  2010 stipend rate: $30,000 per annum
  2.  Australian Postgraduate Awards - 2010 stipend rate: $22,500 per annum
  3.  VU Postgraduate Research scholarships - 2010 stipend rate: $22,500 per 
annum
  4.  VU Postgraduate Research Diversity Scholarships - 2010 stipend rate: 
$22,500 per annum

Research scholarships for international students

We also offer scholarships to support international students wanting to 
participate in high-quality postgraduate research programs at VU. 2010 stipend 
rate:  $22,500 per annum.

About the Institute of Sport, Exercise and Active Living (ISEAL)

The Institute of Sport, Exercise and Active Living (ISEAL) at Victoria 
University aims to be a global research leader in Sport, Exercise Sciences and 
Active Living. World-class laboratories in the new $68.5 million ISEAL building 
support cutting-edge research in sport physiology, biochemistry and molecular 
biology, biomechanics, motor learning and skilled performance, biofeedback and 
motor control. Senior staffing appointments in ISEAL include eight professors. 
Internal priority funding of $3.0 million has been allocated over four years to 
support ISEAL research.
