The School of Sport and Recreation within AUT University is a growing and vibrant school with over 80 staff and 1,000 students, offering programmes from certificate to PhD level across multiple discipline areas. The AUT Millennium Campus has a focus on high performance sport research and is home to many of our professorial staff and postgraduate students who align to the Sport Performance Research Institute New Zealand (SPRINZ), Human Potential Centre or the Coach Development Centre. The AUT Millennium Campus has recently undergone significant expansion and development with an equipment investment of $2.4 million in the following laboratories; Endurance Performance laboratory, Strength and Conditioning laboratory (which encompasses the Athlete Development Clinic, the Fitness and Exercise Science Clinic and the Strength and Power Clinic), Sport Kinesiology, Injury Prevention and Performance laboratory (which encompasses the Running and Cycling Mechanics Clinic, and JELC Kinanthropometry Clinic), Human Potential Centre and Coach Development Centre. We require a highly experienced Senior Research Technician - Biomechanical who will provide exceptional technical support, service, advice, guidance and training to our staff and students. Excellent and proven technical knowledge, instruction in the use of equipment, and maintenance and repair of equipment such as treadmills, force plates, force transducers, timing lights, Biodex balance, HumacNorm isokinetic dynamometer, Woodway instrumented treadmill, bicycle, rowing and kayak ergometers, 2D and 3D cameras, strain gauges, metabolic carts, environmental chamber etc. is imperative and a strong requirement of this position. It is expected that you will have advanced software programming knowledge and ability in this role and be highly competent in specialist sports science data collection and analysis systems (e.g. video analysis systems, SAS, Vicon, Nexus, Visual 3D, Silicon Coach, Labview). The Senior Research Technician - Biomechanical works independently and as part of a wider team and must show initiative and leadership with regards to problem solving and effective communication with staff and students. The role necessitates that you are a high performer with an exceptional work ethic and you will have excellent and proven technical and software skills with an innate ability to continually improve and enhance systems and processes to support teaching, learning, research, scholarship and consultancy. You will be committed and passionate about providing an exceptional technical service to our research staff and students, whilst being approachable, methodical, well organised and energetic! This position will be based predominantly at the AUT Millennium Campus with cover for the North Shore Campus and Manukau Campus as required. Flexible working hours (which could include weekends) to enable research, education and consultancy activities to proceed effectively are required.
