A report on the annual conference of the European College of Sportscience is
now available at http://sportsci.org. It was a great conference, one of the
best in my view, but see what the reviewer (Martin Buchheit) thought.

There are also links to two new research resources. The first is a succinct
introduction to mixed linear modeling (in four slides), part of a slideshow
I presented at the ECSS conference on estimating and adjusting for
environmental effects on performance. The second is an addition to the
sample-size spreadsheet that allows you to estimate sample size for
crossovers and controlled trials from published studies. The addition works
by estimating the error of measurement, which you can also use to impute a
standard error for an outcome in a study that you want to include in a
meta-analysis when the authors haven't provided enough inferential
information to estimate the standard error.

I am supposed to be writing my share of a report on the ACSM conference.
David Pyne has written his contribution, but I'm afraid my summary of the
abstracts is still a few weeks away. And then there's the impact factors.
Will I bother again? Feedback, please.
