Hi Sam,

This is a follow-up on your comments at the WG at the last IETF. Unfortunately,
the time was quite restrictive and we were not able to go over it in detail.

According to the minutes, https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/minutes-101-spring/
your comment was:
“Can you do MTU? Is there a case whereby there is a non-SR network?”

The short answer is yes. This is one of the reasons for building on the ICMP
procedures for SRv6 OAM. It enables seamless integration with the classic IPv6
nodes. A classic IPv6 node is able to participate in the ping and traceroute
operations in an SRv6 network without any software upgrade. This includes any
ping sweep operation for discovering maximum MTU. We can add a clarification in
the draft, too.

I hope it answers your comment. Please advise if you have any further comments.

Dear WG,

We are in the process of updating the draft. Please review the current version
(https://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ali-spring-srv6-oam-00) and advise of any
comments.

Thanks

Regards … Zafar (and co-authors)
