Hi, I believe there are requirements in draft-ietf-spring-srv6-srh-compression that would allow a compressed SID to be placed in the IPv6 Destination Address without an SRH being in the packet where the DA is modified at each hop following the procedures of the draft. This proposal would have ramifications on IPv6 addressing, debugging and diagnostics of the network, and transport layer checksums with a pseudo header. IMO, this isn't just a trivial optimization nor is it immediately clear to me that the benefits outweigh the costs.
I believe this proposal merits its own discussion, but haven't been able to find any details on the motivation, requirements, and implications of doing segment routing in this manner without an SRH. It would be quite helpful if the advocates of this proposal could write the document on this. Thanks, Tom _______________________________________________ spring mailing list spring@ietf.org https://www.ietf.org/mailman/listinfo/spring
