Hi, [draft-ietf-spring-sr-redundancy-protection] was updated. Authors of the update encourage feedback from the WG on the proposed changes.
History: A solution using DetNet-specific SID for Redundancy was presented during IETF-120 (draft-varga-spring-preof-sid). It was asked by the WG chairs to clarify the relationship with the WG draft on redundancy. The authors of the drafts have discussed the technical content of the drafts in person in Dublin and Madrid. The proposed changes were documented in the recent update of the WG draft (v05). The major technical change is, that - the redundancy specific action (i.e., replication or elimination) is moved to the Redundancy Policy. As a consequence only a single new SID (Redundancy SID, RSID) is needed, which points to the Redundancy functionality of the node. The Redundancy Policy contains all the configuration, i.e., what service protection action and how that action is to be executed on packets belonging to a given flow using the protection service. These changes cover a wider range of use-case scenarios and protection topologies. Furthermore, they have removed all the DetNet scenarios related restrictions and limitations of the previous solution. Please, provide your feedbacks/views (if any). Thanks Bala'zs (and the co-authors) Ps: For illustration, a complex topology scenario is described in an appendix as well. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, October 13, 2025 9:29 AM To: [email protected] Cc: [email protected] Subject: [spring] I-D Action: draft-ietf-spring-sr-redundancy-protection-05.txt Internet-Draft draft-ietf-spring-sr-redundancy-protection-05.txt is now available. It is a work item of the Source Packet Routing in Networking (SPRING) WG of the IETF. Title: SRv6 for Redundancy Protection Authors: Xuesong Geng Mach(Guoyi) Chen Pablo Camarillo Garvia Gyan Mishra Balazs Varga Ferenc Fejes Name: draft-ietf-spring-sr-redundancy-protection-05.txt Pages: 17 Dates: 2025-10-10 Abstract: Redundancy Protection is a generalized protection mechanism to achieve high reliability of service transmission in Segment Routing networks. The mechanism uses the "Live-Live" methodology. This document introduces one new SRv6 Segment Endpoint Behavior to provide replication and elimination functions on specific network nodes by leveraging SRv6 Network Programming capabilities.
