Abstract: As RoCEv2 and loss-sensitive applications become increasingly prevalent across data centers, there is a growing demand to make cross-data-center interactions as efficient and controllable as those within a single data center. Flow control mechanisms within DCs, such as PFC, need to be extended to the WAN. However, PFC is not suitable for direct application to the WAN due to its inherent limitations. To address this, our draft proposes a more economical and flexible solution. By defining a new SRv6 behavior (End.X.PFC), we enable cross-hop RoCE backpressure to specific interfaces with flow control capability, bypassing intermediate legacy WAN devices via SRv6 reverse tunnels, without requiring any upgrades to transit nodes. This approach ultimately achieves end-to-end lossless transmission across both DCNs and the WAN. Welcome any comments, suggestions, or feedbacks.
