Hello all, Here is a short status update on the SR Policy YANG draft since the last IETF meeting (v07, v08).
The latest update maximizes the reuse of ietf-te-types where doing so does not compromise SR Policy semantics, while keeping SR-specific behavior explicit where TE reuse would otherwise blur the model. The main model changes currently reflected in the draft are: * dynamic optimization objectives now reuse the TE optimization metric entry * dynamic path constraints now reuse TE path metric bounds, affinities, SRLGs, and disjointness through a path-constraints subtree * the former SR max-sids handling is now represented through path-metric-bounds using an SR-specific msd identity under the TE path-metric base * policy bandwidth keeps the SR leaf shape, but the requested and reserved leaves now use the TE bandwidth typedef One point that came up during review is the appearance of inherited explicit-route-include-objects and explicit-route-exclude-objects subtrees in the rendered YANG tree. We are not enabling those as SR Policy behavior. They still appear because they come from the reused TE optimization grouping, but the SR model disallows the TE route-object optimization identities that would activate them. We have added clarification in both the model text and the draft prose to make that explicit. Editorially, the draft has also been updated to align the narrative with the current model structure and naming, including the selective TE reuse approach and the current treatment of dynamic candidate-path constraints and objectives. Next steps: * Addressing feedback from co-authors about gaps with the SR-Policy architecture. * YANG DOCTOR’s review Thank you and best regards, Tarik From: Tarik Saleh (tasaleh) <[email protected]> Date: Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at 10:42 AM To: Kamran Raza (skraza) <[email protected]>; Alvaro Retana <[email protected]>; [email protected] <[email protected]>; [email protected] <[email protected]> Cc: [email protected] <[email protected]>; [email protected] <[email protected]> Subject: Re: New revision of draft-ietf-spring-sr-policy-yang [Re: [spring] draft-ietf-spring-resource-aware-segments and draft-ietf-spring-sr-policy-yang] Hi Alvaro, Adrian, and WG, We have pushed an updated revision of ietf-sr-policy-yang https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/draft-ietf-spring-sr-policy-yang-08 We have maximized the re-use of TE Grouping/definition in the SR-TE model. We are planning to push another commit that addresses some feedbacks from the co-authors. We plan to close this in less than two weeks time and then plan to push a revision before the IETF cutoff date. HTC. Just checking to see if you will push another update before I start the Yang Dr review. Thanks! Alvaro. This addresses some editorial comments, as well as prepares it for YANG DR review (taking cues from your comments on srv6-yang document). We have couple of pending items (e.g. TE attributes re-use) that are being closed between the authors - we are working on them and trying to close in a week time and push another update (if/as needed). Best regards, — Kamran (on behalf of authors)
