Paul:

Hi!

Disclaimer: I am not a DHCP expert.

The SRv6 locators are assigned, not delegated. So, in this case, I believe
it's okay for a client to use Decline.

What may be missing is a description in the document of how and when to use
them, similar to what is already there for the other messages.

Thanks!

Alvaro.

The following errata report has been submitted for RFC10038,
"Distributing the Segment Routing over IPv6 (SRv6) Locator Using DHCPv6"

--------------------------------------
You may review the report below and at:

--------------------------------------
Type: Technical
Reported by: Paul Aitken <[email protected]>

Section 5.2 says:

Original Text
-------------
A client uses Request, Renew, Rebind, Release, and Decline messages
during the normal lifecycle of SRv6 Locator assignment.

Corrected Text
--------------
A client uses Request, Renew, Rebind, and Release messages during
the normal lifecycle of SRv6 Locator assignment.

Notes
-----
Section 5.2 lists the Decline message as part of the SRv6 Locator
assignment lifecycle, but the Decline message is not supported elsewhere in
the document. "Decline" applies to assigned addresses and is not used for
delegated prefixes, so it does not apply here.
