George,

Another alternative is to do an ESFR convertible system. Size the pipe
for K whatever ESFR's and install K8's or something else. This would
seem a good investment for future changes in use given the building
height.

Ed Zachary the reasoning, IBC exception for vents.

However, I am forwarding over Joe's comments to the Owner so we can
discuss further. I'd be surprised if we end up with a round peg, they're
pretty good about doing it right and re-sale value isn't something that
would otherwise enter into the decision on the side of ESFR throughout.

We ARE including flow of extra ESFR in our prelims, but I think what Joe
is saying is that the RIGHT thing to do would be vents for protection of
product, OH2 or sim for the manufacturing, and limit the ESFR to where
racks will be and MAY reasonably be projected to be in future. The UG is
running around a future expansion that is about another 60% of the
proposed new building, so some projections of rack expansion would be
prudent.

Thom, there's not much in the plant WRT conveyors or extrusion lines
except a dust collection system that leads to a baghouse outside; they
plan to route that halfway between our ESFRs as much as possible. Let me
know when I'm beyond the prescriptive remedies in #13 so I don't
practice engrg without a learner's permit:)

My cut and paste apparently faded away between sending and arriving on
the Forum. Exception (2) to the requirement for venst basicaly says
portions of the building using ESFR do not have to have vents.
