OK I made a mistake

I mistook an exposed gym ceiling with concrete structure to be concrete tee
construction and evidently I was wrong. The "tees" are 8' on center, 8" wide
and 23" deep. The resulting bays are 60'-4" long. Technically I am screwed
away from both concrete tee and obstructed construction and unless someone
knows a way out of this that I can not find we have to put heads in every
bay.

Question is that the end tees are only 1'-4-1/2" from the center of tee to
the exterior wall. This results in a situation where there is a "soffit"
1'-8.5" wide and 23" deep BUT the "soffit " has a pocket 12.5" wide by
60'-4" long.

Is it reasonable to treat this like a soffit and use the obstruction rule
based on an obstruction against a wall as in NFPA 13 2007 ed FIGURE
8.6.5.1.2?

The building is over 20' high so we are calculating 1,500 sqft.

Thanks,
Greg
