I would not test per NFPA 72. You must test and maintain per the manufacturer's catalog/data sheets as they are specific to the systems involve - specifically, you are looking for "Automatic" Sprinkler Corp of America Suprotex System (Deluge Sprinkler System) Sheets G-5 through G-163
These sheets provide descriptionsand testing procedures for the vavles and the rate of rise components. You need the monometer boards to measure the rise of the mercury in the mercury checks and to ensure vacuum pressure in the sensing lines. This isn't something you can find anymore - the components are no longer monufactured or sold by a company. If someone has a manometer they want to sell - call me... This isn't something your average inspector will know how to do. You have to find an elderly ex-Automatic guy. These systems may have been installed with an electrical alarm but the valve is only tripped with the weight drop actuation caused by a rise in pressure behind the mercury check. Actually, you can't even test per NFPA 25 in most cases.
