I use the manufacturers published values, usually 20' to 50' of 1".

Is everyone taking into account the friction loss through these flex hoses?
Schirmer Engineering has a report out dated March 13, 2007 showing the
losses.

Nothing finer, or more painful- why we don't do a lot of public work and
prefer design-build!

Seriously, Kelley, there is no "industry standard", and if you ask or
specify, you end up with one more thing to lose the job over- or argue about
later. In our first year we just decided we center everything and be done
with it. That's gotten a lot easier with flex drops. Now there may be a few
exceptions, like back of house in a retro in a crappy place; we try to end
up not working in those spots.

We do most of our work for the same folks, and they expect what we provide,
and it never even comes up anymore. Others are pleasantly surprised, and if
a GC doesn't care if its center of tile in a new building with 2x2, if he'd
leave his customer with off center heads in a new installation, he's not the
kind of guy we're looking to make a long-term relationship with. If you're
in this market, the right thing is to specify your tolerance in proposal and
do it.

Industry standard is a closed type so take your pick. If hey had said center
OF the tile (instead of IN), I guess even upright would have qualified.
Nothing finer than a tight spec.
