I have a(some) question(s) for you third-party software users/designers (ok, layout technicians).
How does your software assign individual areas of coverage to your heads within your design area (and outside for that matter)? Does it automatically determine the centerline along the pipe between heads and branchlines and distance to walls and obstructions? I've been doing it manually for years now and it's an arduous task and I'm wondering if any design packages have designed an automatic method for this. Does it assign the MRA? Calculate actual minimum densities based upon actual areas? Will it increase the residual to meet density? Peaking within the network? Same question for the spacings and 1.2 square root rule. How about standpipe hydraulics? Are you (like me) faking a valve into thinking it's a head? I'm just kinda tired of having to determine all this stuff manually, we knocked this around over a year ago but software is constantly improving so I thought I'd bring it up again. Besides, it's kinda quiet around here. Tom Duross Go Red Sox!!!
