If you have to chose between the two, use the spacing as if the wall
were solid, and ask to install a baffle from the top of the wall down
2'-0" to stop the cold solder. If visibility is an issue use a clear
element for the baffle such as glass or poly carbonate sheets.

Thanks for your reply. I pretty much need to go one way or the other,
due
to the spacing from walls to mesh wall on each side and the spacing of
the
sprinkler, I can't accommodate both. I'm either going to cold solder
or be
over spaced. That's why I was looking/hoping for a limitation/definition
that would draw the line.

Bobby,
In my opinion, which isn't always as humble as it needs to be, since
this is
not LH, the sprinklers will need to maintain their minimum separation and
the sprinklers will need to be spaced treating this as an obstruction to
discharge (i.e. half the distance). The mesh will allow water
through, but
it will also impede proper distribution. Because of this I believe
that the
minimum distance between sprinklers will need to be maintained to prevent
cold soldering and since distribution will be affected, half the distance
will need to be maintained.
Just my opinion if I were the layout guy,

This is Class IV comm and we have EC sprinklers (storage room in
Grocery/Shopping store). Wall of mesh keeps people out of a certain
area in
the back store room.

Since this is in the vertical plane wouldn't this fall into the "MESH"
criteria in 8.6.5.2.2 for LH only occupancies?

This may or may not help, but >70% unobstructed is what we've seen
applied
by a reputable independent fire tester/underwriter on similar items.

Subject: Vertical mesh wall
We have a 2x4 metal stud wall on 16" centers with ½"x½" hardware cloth
on it
to deck. Is this considered a wall? I can't seem to find the size
limitations to the openings.
Thanks,
