You would never use beam detectors in a garage and especially in an open
structure like this. Consider the fact that cars emit smoke and other
exhaust gases, the detectors would be alarming all the time.

AS in the area is all you should need. The area is heated right? Also
in some jurisdictions, (rain) water run off from cars is routed to oil
separators before being discharged into the sanitary or storm sewers.
Make sure someone has verified that the drains could handle the
discharge from the calculated sprinkler flow. Otherwise you could end
up with an underground pool and lots of flooded cars. Even though this
is more of a plumbing issue. It's a good idea to send an e-mail
notifying someone of the potential problem.

An existing high rise building with a basement is utilized a parking
garage, such parking garage is protected by wet type sprinkler system,
someone asked for a beam type smoke detectors in such area, your
insight is needed, is it really required by IBC/IFC or NFPA or the
existing AS will be adequate?
