Most backflow appliances are test pressure rated up to 350 PSI if I'm
not mistaken. They all have a "case burst pressure" threshold and
that's one of the things U.L. does in classifying them - try to blow 'em
up.

Subject: 200 psi test for components rated 175

I've got this question posed to me:

Backflow preventor is rated at 175 (as are most of the fire sprinkler
components) yet we are required to do a 200 psi test. Is the keyword
here
"working pressure" of 175 psi or am I missing something?

thx,
