Hello Forum,

I am wondering if anyone has specific references (texts) indicating the
disadvantages of large anti-freeze fire protection systems. I have
knowledge of contractors frequently installing large 13, and 13R AF
systems (100-500+) gallons, I would like to encourage them to look at
other alternatives.

I find the servicing costs generally are not well communicated to end
users in the bidding process. I also find numerous maintenance issues
associated with these systems, forgetting the fact that the fluids have
greater viscosities and are combustible and add fuel to the fire.

(I would wish NFPA 13 would reverse itself on this issue - and go back
to the pre-2002 days...)

Thanks

Byron
