The NFSA addressed this in the May/June issue of Sprinkler Quarterly. 
I think the wet can be all one system, the dry is a separate system  
(naturally also the most of concern).
I would consult with the AHJ regarding the "end of main" issue.

We  interpret the 5 year frequency to be by system.  However, since we  have
150 systems, when we decided to do this, it was proposed to do  a
statistical sampling to obtain a high confidence factor.  We  inspected 25
systems using a camera (borescope type) to inspect the  internal portions of

system.  The single head and single cross main  cap inspection is

We did the water testing and we have had pinhole  leaks.  So enough

testing is not a substitute.  It is an  indicator of the need to do the
internal investigation.
