I thought the 1 in 16m was the # of sprinklers activating without apparent
cause- not "leaking" but discharging. This was back before the much more
fragile 3mm QR/res bulbs, so expect that number to plummet, albeit not as
bad as it could with the requirements for protective covers applied.

Subject: From the Provo Daily Herald - leak statistic

1 in 16 million was a quoted figure for sprinkler leaking (i assume
not to include piping) before the O-ring thing.

Has anyone a statistic for sprinkler system leakage? either
  sprinkler head or pipe?

Think what you want, but I will use the information to accuse
those whose arguments prevent me from putting the
  sprinklers in electrical rooms.
