Minnesota was incredibly successful a few years ago with a large
forested area called the Boundary Waters that had several million acres
of trees blow down. This is largely national forest with limited roads,
but cabins, lake homes and other structures. The Minnesota Department
of Natural Resources put together a program called Firewise. Many homes
have been saved. Clearing the brush and sprinklering the exposure
including humidification of the air around the structure. See
http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/firewise/index.html for more information.
This website give you minimal cost options all the way to replacing your
roof and much much more.

Subject: Exposure Protection

What is your take on an exposure protection system on a cabin in the
mountains to protect the cabin in the event of a forest fire?
