There was an article about corrossion in fire sprinkler systems in the last AFSA magazine edition. It was written by an expert on corrossion, you may want to find that article and call him.

Rationale is that the cylinders require no maintenance, no power, tc. Big problem is if you have a leaky system you can deplete the nitrogen at he most inopportune moments, (holidays, shutdowns, weekends, middle of the ight, etc) and then you have a false trip. It's hard to replace the eliability of a local air compressor. Corrosion is typically not even a thought when it comes to this option, it's sually all about $$$$$$$. Personally I try to dissuade any client from going this route when they bring up he idea. Craig L. Have a series f Data Centers with existing pre-action systems, where the owner is requesting itrogen to replace air compressors. hey think there is a corrosion advantage? Anyone have any info on that? Can MIC urvive or grow in a Nitrogen rich environment? I know that nitrogen compressors re not "Pure" nitrogen, so is there enough oxygen to feed the MIC? Any help appreciated. Thom McMahon, SET iretech, Inc. 560 Copper Ridge Dr .O.
