Good morning all -
On an inspection yesterday I came across an abundant shell condition around the shallow edges of a pond which serves as the water supply to a building's fire pump and sprinkler system. The pond is brackish and apparently a thriving ecosystem with everything from sunny fish down to barely visible translucent critters snagged in a fine net. These shells were literally everywhere within sight along the edges of the pond by the hundreds. Thus far no investigation into water conditions or testing have been done but my suspicions are on the rise that there is a MIC potential in the system. I have a few clear and close-up photos of the shells and was wondering if anyone on the list would be able to offer thoughts on the species based on their experiences. This is the first time a natural source has crossed my path and I'm trying to get some simple confirmation before moving forward and pushing for actual lab testing of the water and internal pipe exam. I don't think the list server will let me attach photos here but would be happy to send them directly to your email if you are able to offer assistance. Thank you.
