I don't have my old Automatic Data Book in front of me however, I seem to
recall
that you could use warm water to test HAD's . If I can get my hands on my book
tomorrow I'll scan and post it somewhere.

Subject: HAD Testing

Hello all!

We are currently performing inspections on all types of systems at a nearby
army
base.  I am having a problem finding a proper test apparatus for H.A.D. devices
on the pre-action and deluge systems.
I have heard thru the "grapevine", that Kidde Fire Protection makes such a
device, but I cannot seem to find any such item on their website.  I have been
told that I need to obtain a 377 Deg. Light bulb, in order for the radiant heat
off the bulb to activate the H.A.D.  Since this is my first "go 'round"
inspecting these devices, is this what I need to properly test H.A.D.s?  If
yes,
then does anybody know where I may obtain such a device?  Also, if this is the
"incorrect" way to test H.A.D., by all means, let me know!  I would very much
appreciate any thoughts or input any members may wish to share, to enlighten me!

Thanks to you all!
