Agreed with respect to IBC interps where this forum struggles in our
attempts to practice architecture. I'd never advocate using the ICC forum
to discuss standpipe design.

I'd agree, Bill, but here in our cozy spot, we generally know who we all
are, often have met, and know where people's strengths and weaknesses are.
For example, if Leyton says something about standpipes, I'll run into battle
without unquestioning with his answer.
If someone else questions his answer, I'd wait for him to acknowledge his
error or misjudgment, because he would.

On other Forums I've subscribed to, we get the dumbest questions from the
clueless, and there's no way you could educate them enough to do what
they're trying to do.
I don't know who to place any confidence in, so I may end up unsubscribing.

Now if we limit the stuff to just ICC stuff, sure, it's a better place than
to ask ICC questions of a bunch of guys who cut their teeth on NFPA codes-
many of us discovered the balcony rule that 13R omits but IBC doesn't by
running a row of heads around cause we relied on 13R, not the trumping
building code. And I know I can rely on John D to come up with the
applicable sections as he did this AM.

My only complaint about this Forum is that it wasn't available in 1975.
Otherwise its been a fantastic place to gain insights from across the world,
develop new friends and network contacts, and needle my friends.

Mr. Muncy, keep up the good work. Its even worth allowing the parasites :)

Subject: New ICC Forum to Start

>From the most recent ICC news:

"ICC to Launch New Codes & Standards Discussion Forum - The International
Code Council will be launching the Codes & Standards Discussion Forum. This
new area of ICC's website will be centered around open discussion of the
International Codes and standards, allowing industry professionals to share
their ideas and knowledge with one another."

Seems like this will be the place to discuss the application of 13/13R and
other IBC issues.
