I went to look at a basement of an existing building today. The sprinkler
system was originally installed by the local butcher and after review by 2
other contractors and another consultant, it still is not correct. A couple of
the problems I am running into:

1. There are 2 branch lines that have 2 sprinklers 5'-8" apart. This is in the
middle of the line and is difficult at best to re-configure. My thought was to
install a barrier between the sprinklers. It would be approximately 12" wide
and cover from the ceiling to the bottom of the branch line. It would be
centered on the pipe and between the heads. (A cut-out for the pipe would have
to be included) Any thoughts on this arrangement?

2. There are 4 recessed dry pendent sprinklers installed below a 6'-6" high
soffit (parking garage). I need to be able to install guards for these heads,
but no guard that I found will work with a recessed sprinkler. Are there any?
If not, would it be acceptable to attach the guards to the sheetrock ceiling?
