Sorry about the IFC rant, I missed the Mexico part.

Not all places in the world operate the same way we do here in the States and not all even recognize NFPA Standards. In some of the countries I've worked there are no adopted Standards, the local fire department determines the risk level and assigns the protection scheme. NFPA in those areas may be our minimum go-by when the direction is flimsy but local rules dictate their minimum acceptable approach. Craig L. If you ask they are more than likely going to look in IFC Chapter 34 and require overfill protection, float valve, remote fill level indicator and so on. Tanks less than 660 gallons a are below the MAQ and Chapter 34 (3401.2.3) isn't applicable. NFPA 31 Standard for the Installation of Oil-Burning Equipment also addresses indoor fuel oil storage tanks and might provide some insight but Chapter 11.4 provides considerable info on the tanks. It would be best to also contact the local authority having jurisdiction to see if any other codes or standards need to be followed. Craig L. I do recall from many years ago there was an NFPA standard on diesel engines. I do not remember the number. Start with NFPA 20 and 110 which both have chapters on diesel engine drivers for fire pumps and generators, respectively. You may find references to other standards that could help you.
