Sounds like the contract wording may play a role in the scenario.

Thanks for the insight. Missed that annex section.

A.4.1.1.3 Examples of designated representatives can include
the occupant, management firm, or managing individual
through specific provisions in the lease, written use agreement,
or management contract.

Based on all the references to "designated representative" my impression
is the term is used for "property management" types, the ITM contractor
is addressed seperately, while it is possible for an ITM contractor to
also be part of a property management company, if your contract solely
covers ITM then cataloging and addressing changes to the hazard is not
specifically your responsibility as outlined in:

A.4.1.6 See Annex F for an example of a hazard evaluation
form. A hazard evaluation is not part of a system inspection.

The responsibility for asking for a hazard evaluation is on the owner or
designated representative based on changes to the occupancy or
construction, not a general ITM contractor.

Subject: NFPA 25 Questions

For the sprinkler gurus out there.

You're company is hired by a building owner to perform annual sprinkler
ITM for their building.

1- Does this mean you are now the "Designated Representative" as
written in 4.1.1.4 of NFPA 25 (11ed)?
2- If so, then if during your inspection you find a deficiency in
the system design (regardless if the system was installed per 13 or
not), do you then have to meet 4.1.6? of NFPA 25 (11ed)?

Insight and thoughts appreciated.
