I am working on a tire store that has a 40x50 area on the back of the
building dedicated for tire storage. The ceiling (open structure) is 22'-0
at the highest point, the racks are open 16'-0 high fixed in place - single
and double row w/the double rows having about 16" flue space between them.
Max storage height is 16'-0 and the tires will be on-tread. The engineer for
the project has specified using 25.2 ESFR calculating 12@15psi w/250 hose
stream allowance, per Table 18.4(d). I agree with this. What I am not sure
of is the following; there is a mezzanine throughout most of this area at
8'-0AFF; it goes around the racks and where there are double row racks it
goes around them with the flue space open as well. How would this are need
to be protected? Any discussion/suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.
