definately concurr with Travis-- it is the same sprinkler air space above the same fire floor space, with no vertical seperation.

It is my understanding you have to flow them simultaneously, even if the "balance" point is at the public main.

Thanks,
Definitely going to have a separate riser, I do not see any need to balance the two since they are both from different systems. what do you think?

Thanks for the input

Subject: Re: In Rack Sprinkler Supply

There is nothing I have seen that says in-racks must have a dedicated riser,
nly that they must be separately controlled. I think that arrangement would be
cceptable, but I would install a control valve on the feed to the in-racks.
ake a look at the diagrams in 8.16.1.6 in the Handbook.

I am designing an In-rack sprinkler system in an industrial building that has 4 xisting Automatic Sprinkler Systems that are wet and configured as a grid. They
re located directly under the collector grid main. Is there anything in
FPA-13 that will not allow me to connect the in-rack supply from an adjoining
prinkler System. The in racks are double row racks and running parallel with
he grid lines, so when I calculate the ceiling sprinklers directly above the
acks and calculate the in racks sprinklers, I will be flowing from two
ifferent risers, if so would I still need to balance the two? It is
conomically advantageous not to connect at the base of the riser or to the
upply main of the directly overhead system.
