The Fort Worth FD did these when I was there as an intern in 1998. Not sure if
they still do it.

PS- #3 below is very important.

Kevin,

Can be done, depends on the fire department in your area, usually written off
as training.

A couple of cautions:

1. Keep pedestrians away, discharge hose will be at 250 psi

2. Vent all air from the system at the highest elevation outlet

3. Ensure the pumper driver has the circulation relief valve open, as you will
be discharging against a closed system (No flow)

4. Use a good gauge at some out on the standpipe system, pumper gauges may not
be accurate.

If there is any UG piping don't expect it to pass, I've seen it fail many times
at no more than 150 psi.

Yours truly,

Subject: Dry Standpipe 5 year pressure test enquiry.

As per NFPA 25(2011) 6.3.2 there is a 5 year requirement for the hydrostatic
pressure test of dry standpipes.

We are looking at the possibility of utilizing a Fire Truck (pumper) to
complete this test.

Has anyone else done this? Opinions?

Thanks
