09 IBC definition of a High Rise: A building with an occupied floor located
more than 75 feet above the lowest level of fire department vehicle access.

So if the FD can drive around to the side of the partially exposed portion of
the garage, that would be the lowest level of FD vehicle access. If the FD
can't then it's not.

Subject: 2009 IBC - FDP vehicle access

Can someone please tell me what section of the 2009 IBC is used for

figure out the lowest level of fire department vehicle access? I have

a existing building that has a partially exposed parking garage that if
included in the overall height of the building, would make it a high rise
requiring automatic wet standpipes.

Thanks,
