We are getting a fair number of bounced mail messages from SprinklerForum
subscribers, so it might be good to review some rules.

- you send email to the forum by addressing email to:
[email protected]

- don’t send email to: [email protected] !!! You
may receive a bounced mail message from that address, but that is an
administrative address and if you reply to it the list server software will
ignore you or think you are some kind of bad person to be placed in a bad
person list. Don’t end up in a bad person list - don’t send email to that email
address.

- you have to send your email to the SprinklerForum FROM THE ADDRESS FROM WHICH
YOU SUBSCRIBED. If your email address changes and you are having email
forwarded from your original subscribed address you will receive email from the
forum but won’t be able to send it. For the list server software, your
subscribed email address is EVERYTHING, it really doesn’t care about you as a
person and doesn’t know or care about your name, your company or your
relationships.

- you can temporarily unsubscribe or suspend email from the Forum when you go
on vacation. This is preferable to having your vacation message from your email
server sent to over seven hundred of your friends here on the Forum. We all
want you to have a good time on your vacation, but we’d rather hear about it
when you get back - not some lame “I’m out of the office until XXXXX and will
respond to your message when I return."

- sometimes subscribers put the sprinklerforum email address in a CC: or BCC:
field, and sometimes a bunch of other names are put in those fields when you
are sending a message to the forum - but the list server software really
doesn’t like that. It thinks you are trying to spam somebody. You will likely
be put in a bad person list to be monitored by the CIA or secret security
service division of AFSA, and your message will be bounced. Best results are
obtained when you send your message ONLY to the forum address.

- attachments ARE NOT ALLOWED!!!! I know you want to share that cartoon or
100MB video of the cuddly kittie with over seven hundred subscribers of the
SprinklerForum, but the software will immediately identify you as a
rule-breaker. It will send your message straight to wherever lost messages are
sent. Once long ago we actually allowed attachments. Boy, was that a mistake!
Such an easy way to distribute a virus to a very large group…..

These rules are in place to assure you have a good user experience with the
AFSA SprinklerForum and we don’t think they are too onerous. Let us know when
issues arise, and we are happy to find a solution to the problem. The
SprinklerForum is a valuable industry resource, and we very much appreciate
your participation.
