Regardless of how your platforms are constructed, bear in mind that the height 
of ANYTHING near a helicopter landing pad is LIMITED by the approach & 
departure path which is defined by a slope of 8 feet horizontal to 1 foot 
vertical on all sides of the landing pad. You can learn more about this from 
Federal Aviation Administration Advisory Circular AC 150/5390-2C. It’s a free 
download from FAA’s website. You may also want to contact Ricarda Bennet, of 
Heliport Consultants. She is nationally recognized Heliport consultant who I’m
