I have some contractors that use the flexible fittings regularly. I just have them give me the datasheet for the brand they want and calc it out. If I have time, I will also run a set of calcs and compare to Flexhead which usually has lower friction losses. If one gives smaller pipe size over the other, I let them decide what they want, then finish the drawing based on that. But, you can really get caught off guard if you don't figure some of these friction losses properly. I have seen some lower cost brands that have something like 50' of equivalent loss. That can be a real problem.
