The situation explained in 13R 2013 ed in section *6.6.5.1.1 *specifically explains the allowance of sidewalls outside of their listing but no mention is made for pendents.
Question #1 - is the intent here that standard spray sidewalls be used or are Res sidewalls allowed to be used outside of their listing? Question #2 - If the answer to number one is that res or EC sidewalls can be used and you have a situation in which the use of sidewalls is not possible and Pendent sprinklers must be used where there are exposed wood framing members, does the same logic apply to using residential pendents outside their listing or is the intent that SSP sprinklers be used?
