I'm a bit late on this, but a very large retailer whose name begins with 'W' details on their bid documents how they want it done: install a pendent sprinkler just inside the building (approx 6" from exterior wall) with water shield and head guard. Sprinkler to be centered horizontally on the trash chute opening and with deflector 3' max above the opening. I'm not saying it right or wrong, just that's how they detail it.

An exterior trash compactor fed from a horizontal chute from inside. I've seen these sprinkled and I've seen them not sprinkled. According to '13 it looks to me like they require sprinklers but that is not the question. Question is, when you do sprinkle them, is it common for you guys to run a little antifreeze loop to feed a single head in the hopper when there is no apparent way to do this from inside? How do you guys do these? Thanks, Tony E. _______________________________________________ Sprinklerforum mailing list [email protected] http://lists.firesprinkler.org/listinfo.cgi/sprinklerforum-firesprinkler.org _______________________________________________ Sprinklerforum mailing list [email protected] http://lists.firesprinkler.org/listinfo.cgi/sprinklerforum-firesprinkler.org
