I don't think necessarily alarmist. Sounds like a legitimate concern. Any system that had water flowing through it (quarterly testing, maintenance, repair, etc) during the time they hooked to the river water could have a corrosion potential. Probably have to treat this like a MIC problem. Not sure if they have isolated
what is causing the corrosion, but it could impact anything attached to it.
